Job Description
Creative Dining Services is seeking an experienced and compassionate Food Service Director to lead dining operations at one of our senior living community partners. This individual will oversee all aspects of food service management, ensuring high-quality, nutritious meals and exceptional hospitality for residents.
   
The ideal candidate brings proven experience in senior living, assisted living, or independent living environments and has successfully managed teams of 30 or more employees. This role requires a balance of operational excellence, strong leadership, and a passion for enriching the lives of older adults through great food and service.
   
Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Collaborate with the Operations Director to prepare and manage period and annual budgets.
  • Drive maximum sales and controllable profits while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all company purchasing and financial policies and procedures.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead a team of 30+ food service professionals, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and respect.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate team members to achieve operational goals.
  • Partner with Human Resources to develop and execute individual growth and development plans.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws and company standards.

Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee all aspects of daily dining operations, including food safety, sanitation, and service quality.
  • Ensure compliance with ServSafe, Allergen Awareness, and other applicable regulations.
  • Regularly review and address audit findings, health inspections, and internal compliance reports.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews and maintain positive client relations.

Communication & Engagement

  • Maintain open, consistent communication with staff, residents, and leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with residents and families to ensure dining satisfaction.
  • Promote a positive, service-driven dining culture that enhances the overall community experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing food service operations in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality environments.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams (30+ employees) and achieve performance goals.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • ServSafe and Allergen Awareness Certifications (or ability to obtain).
  • Must be able to pass Michigan's mandatory background screening processes for Senior Living
