Job Description

This position is responsible for the direction, implementation, and supervision of all meal service and nutritional support for guests while following applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as corporate policies and procedures This position is also responsible for providing a quality assurance program that certifies guests therapeutic nutritional requirements are met with a variety of flavorful meals, snacks and supplements, while sanitation, safety, and cost control are maintained.
   
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  1. Manage the selection, training, development and performance of assigned staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce for the facility. This includes coaching staff that are participating in a succession development plan and adhering to Affirmative Action requirements.
  2. Develop and facilitate growth within the department, relate professionally and positively to facility and departmental staff and to work cooperatively with others at all levels, and to include performance evaluations.
  3. Work independently with organizational skills, to prioritize tasks and to exercise judgment consistent with core values.
  4. Collaborate with the Dietitian or appropriate staff members regarding initial and ongoing clinical nutritional assessments, menu planning according to nutritional needs and adjusting for special menus.
  5. Participate in guest care conferences.
  6. Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized kitchen at all times.
  7. Must be able to identify potentially unsafe situations and to respond appropriately.
  8. Responsible for financial viability of department, to include development, management and accountability of budgets.
  9. Responsible to know, implement and ensure compliance to State, Federal or County regulations and BHS policies and procedures.
  10. Promotes the Benedictine Mission and Core Values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect and Justice by bringing the Mission and Core Values into the day-to-day activities of the company.
  11. Performs other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned

Required Licenses/Certifications, Experience, & Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Accreditation as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), or currently enrolled in approved CDM course and will be eligible to write CDM exam at completion of course work within 12 months of hire
  • Completion of an approved food safety sanitation course or completion within the first 90 days of employment
               

Salary
$58,364 - $71,947
